Programs We Run

At Insight High School Ministry, our programs are designed to support young people through some of the challenges and changes they experience during their high school years.

Working alongside schools and local communities, we provide supportive and engaging programs that help students develop resilience, confidence, positive relationships and practical skills for life.

SRE & VSA in High Schools

There are different opportunities for Christian ministry within NSW public high schools, including Special Religious Education (SRE) and Voluntary Student Activities of a religious nature (VSA). Insight offer both.

Special Religious Education (SRE)

SRE is dedicated time during the school day for students to learn about the beliefs and practices of their chosen faith.

Christian SRE gives high school students the opportunity to explore the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, ask questions about faith and life, and consider the Christian perspective on issues such as identity, relationships, purpose, values and the world around them.

SRE is delivered by trained and authorised representatives of approved Christian providers, with students participating according to the choices made by their parents or carers.

Voluntary Student Activities (VSA)

VSA provides additional opportunities for students to voluntarily participate in activities of a Christian nature within their school community.

Depending on the school, these may include Christian discussion or prayer groups, lunchtime or breakfast groups, visiting speakers and other faith-based activities.

VSA is separate from SRE and operates with the permission and supervision of the school principal. Participation requires parent or carer permission.

Supporting Young People in Their Faith

While SRE and VSA operate differently, both can provide valuable opportunities for young people to engage with the Christian faith, build relationships, ask meaningful questions and explore what following Jesus can mean in their everyday lives.

Through these opportunities, Insight seeks to work alongside local churches and school communities to support young people as they explore faith during their high school years.

Seasons for Growth

Supporting young people through change, loss and grief.

Seasons for Growth provides a safe and supportive environment for young people who have experienced significant change or loss in their lives.

Using the four seasons as a metaphor for the different experiences of change, students are encouraged to understand their emotions, recognise their strengths and develop healthy ways of responding to life's challenges.

The program helps young people build resilience, hope and practical coping skills, while recognising that change and loss are a normal part of life.

Strength and Shine

Building confidence, resilience, self-worth and positive relationships.

Strength and Shine encourages young people to recognise their individual strengths and develop greater confidence in who they are.

Through supportive group activities and discussion, students explore self-worth, resilience, relationships, decision-making and personal strengths, developing skills they can carry with them beyond the classroom.

The program aims to help young people feel valued, capable and better equipped to navigate the challenges of adolescence and everyday life.
